Rhapsodia

[Disclaimer: This chronicle has absolutely nothing to do with the Deathsong storyline]

'What the hell is this?!' yelled the teacher, in a rather pissed state. Her class was extremely rowdy. Paper birds were tossed everywhere. Students were yapping away without giving the slightest attention to her.

'I'm warning you guys!' she shrieked. The teenagers still ignored her.

'Fine.' she muttered. Raising a hand, she cast a flare spell. The bright light blinded everyone but her momentarily, and silence reigned in the brief time they shut up.

They stared at their young teacher, barely a couple summers after graduation. Never had a teacher used magic during a class, and they were shocked.

This isn't your average school, where the strict disiplinarians ruled all. Here, you couldn't really get punished for mischief, and magic was commonplace, as was the practice of weapons.

This was Rhapsodia, the greatest academy in all Rursus.

Anyway, back to our teacher, Rachel, a star graduate from Rhapsodia, head of the Advanced Magics Society and Chief Duel Officer.

Just then, the bell rung.

'Damn it. Get lost.' she snarled to her subdued class. They hastily rushed out of the classroom, glad to be away from their emotionally unstable teacher. The last one tripped over a chair leg, sprawling over. He quickly recovered and dashed out of the room.

Rachel plunked down on her seat, seething angrily.

A figure entered the classroom, and Rachel immediately leapt up, her blade in her hand instantly, and glared at the intruder. He ducked her first sword swing, which was checked and swung back before she could recognise him. Then she halted midswing.

'In a mood, aren't you.' grinned Genesis, the High Combat Instructor,

Rachel plunked down. 'Yeah. My class was a total fiasco. They never listen to me.'

'It's something you learn over the course of years teaching. You'll get it soon.' said Genesis, rubbing her tense shoulders soothingly. 'I was like you too, years back when I was a trainee teacher.'

Kaithlyn screwed her face as she mixed a compound in the lab. It emitted a strong stench, which usually meant it was a wrong mixture. But it was right, according to the list of ingredients and lists given to her by her group leader, Candace.

She was part of the Advanced Magic Society, and every group was expected to work on any project. Her group was working on this 'Reduction' project, devised by Candace, but she had not briefed them about it yet, except giving Kaithlyn this slip of paper.

'I wonder what this does.' she muttered.
